Which Conditions Are Eligible for Walk-In Medical Care?

Getting the medical care you need shouldn’t have to be a big hassle or require a long wait. So if you called your doctor and couldn’t get an appointment for weeks, you’ll be glad to know you have an alternative.

At SmartClinic Urgent Care in West Covina and Santa Clarita, California, we offer walk-in appointments for everything from physicals to the flu. To make your life more convenient and ensure you have access to the medical care you need when you need it, you can simply visit either of our offices.

Here’s a quick overview of the different care we can provide when you visit us.

Acute illnesses

Whether you’ve fallen ill yourself or you’re caring for a sick child, walking into our office connects you to health experts who can help. At SmartClinic Urgent Care, we treat:

We offer instant in-office testing for many of these conditions. This allows us to quickly and accurately diagnose you so we can appropriately tailor your care plan.

Preventive care

Regular physicals give you an excellent way to be proactive about maintaining your health. And you don’t need to call months in advance to see a provider. All you need to do is walk into our office when you’re ready.

Whether your child needs a physical for school or sports, you need an immigration or Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, or you’re just due for an annual checkup, our team can provide it.

To further help with your health goals, we offer everything from immunizations to blood work to testing for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) right here at our clinics. We can integrate whatever you need into your walk-in appointment.

Injuries

If you get hurt playing a sport, you accidently cut yourself in the kitchen, or you strain your back moving something heavy, you can walk in to either SmartClinic Urgent Care location to get prompt medical attention.

At our clinics, our specialists assess your injury using diagnostic tools — like in-house digital X-rays — when necessary to figure out the extent of the issue. Then, we develop a plan to help you heal.

When to go to the emergency room

We can treat a wide range of conditions if you simply walk into either of our offices. That said, there are some instances when you should go to the emergency room (ER) instead.

The main difference is that you should head straight to the ER if the situation could be life-threatening. If you’re not sure, it’s best to err on the side of caution and go to the ER.

Seek emergency medical care when the affected individual — whether that’s yourself or someone else — has:

You should also go to the ER if you know the person has ingested something poisonous.

For just about everything else, all you need to do is walk into either of our offices. If you like to plan ahead, you can also call the SmartClinic Urgent Care clinic nearest you to schedule an appointment.
